Abstract
Dentists play a critical role in identifying Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB), including Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), through routine oral examinations. This article highlights the correlation between tongue morphology, airway obstruction, and sleep pathology, emphasizing the need for early detection. It advocates for interdisciplinary collaboration, including oral myofunctional therapy and orthodontic interventions, to manage SDB effectively. Early pediatric screening is essential to prevent long-term complications. By integrating airway assessments into practice, dentists can aid in the early diagnosis and treatment of SDB, improving overall patient health outcomes.
