Lactation Consultant
Patricia A. Berg, IBCLC, CST-D Cransiosacral Therapist | Lactation Consultant
Willmette, IL, USA

Patricia is an International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant as well as being a diplomate certified craniosacral therapist trained by the Upledger Institiute.
Patricia first began to study CranioSacral and lymphatic work with the Upledger Institute in 1997.

Patricia came to the study of CranioSacral work and lymphatic work to be able to help mothers and babies with issues that were not being addressed by other modalities. Confident that there were answers available Patricia pursued CranioSacral and lymphatic work for solutions. Patricia recently added visceral manipulation to the techniques that she uses. She continues her studies with the Upledger Institute and is also a teaching assistant for them.

Patricia opened her practice as a craniosacral therapist separately from her lactation consultant business in 2008. She has found tremendous satisfaction in providing drug free and natural alternatives for patients. Most people suffer from physical and emotional impairments stored within their body. CranioSacral Therapy offers one solution to removing these blockages. Some commonly treated symptoms include, but are not limited to: headaches and back pain, autism, ADD and ADHD, TMJ, and babies with colic.

Patricia is trained in CranioSacral therapy, somatic emotional release, lymphatic drainage, visceral manipulations and acupressure techniques.

Like many other women, Patricia Berg’s attention focused on breastfeeding after the birth of her first child in 1982. Her interest in the subject of lactation developed from there, and she eventually became a member, then a Leader, in La Leche League. During her activities as a Leader, she repeatedly encountered mothers who lacked accurate information and the support they needed to make informed decisions about breastfeeding.

Team Tongue Tie
San Diego, CA, US

It was at the University of Southern California that I earned my undergraduate degree. Following that, I received my doctorate from the USC School of Dentistry in 2000. While there, I earned several prestigious awards for excellence in dentistry. I have been practicing dentistry for 18 years with my focus on children. I have since developed a passion for treating the problems caused by tongue ties. Seeing the long term negative effects on children’s teeth, gums and jaw joints, and the speech problems tongue ties caused over the years, pushed me to rethink my career path. I am now changing my focus to deal more directly with preventing these issues. My goal is provide a positive experience through early intervention for breastfeeding moms and children.

I left Los Angeles to work alongside my sister, Dr. Alisa Sacker. I am so excited to be living in San Diego! I look forward to enjoying more time with my family, continuing my yoga, hiking and, of course, being with the family’s three labradors.

Dr. Jason Berk comes from Melville, New York. He did his dental school at SUNY Buffalo and his residency at SUNY Melville.
Dr. Berk’s journey to orthodontics began…on his bike! Or rather, on the ground after he fell off his bike as a child, which damaged his teeth. He had amazing care from his pediatric dentist and his orthodontist, and they inspired him to pursue his own career as an orthodontist. Luckily, he hasn’t had any bad bike accidents since then – make sure to wear your helmet, Dr. Berk!
When he’s not fixing his patients’ teeth, he likes to spend time with his wife and son. You can find them catching a sports game at home, rooting for the Giants and the Mets!

Dr. Berk notes that there are many health benefits of braces. Straight teeth make it easier to floss, and keep your teeth clean generally. It’s best to get your teeth straightened to avoid more systemic issues down the line.

Thanks for the tips, Dr. Berk – we’re glad to have you on the Diamond Braces team!

Ashburn Children's Dentistry
Ashburn, VA, USA

Family dentistry has been a way of life for me, and the passion for caring for children is in my genes. My mother, Dr. Lynda Dean-Duru, also a pediatric dentist, was my first inspiration towards family dentistry. Having started my journey in family care working as a pediatric dental assistant at Ashburn Children’s Dentistry, I spent many summers as my mother’s mentee. Watching what seemed like magical healing art she deployed while working in her dental practice and knowing the need and the power of proactive preventive dental health among children, I chose a career specializing in pediatric dentistry.

It is an honor to join Dr. Lynda’s practice at Ashburn Children’s Dentistry where I get to fulfill my commitment to helping each child and parent have a positive and transformative dental experience, with compassion and fun! Having matured as an integrative laser pediatric dental surgeon and absorbing the ethos of Ashburn Children’s Dentistry, I work tirelessly to stay abreast of emerging research, and improve the quality of life for children by learning from the world’s leading researchers and clinicians. Through these means, we are continually integrating critical aspects of oral structure, craniofacial development and its impact on the pediatric airway in the service of providing optimal patient outcomes. Caring for children is so powerful and rewarding and with that, understanding the importance of utilizing gentle and minimal intervention therapies. Treating the source of their issues instead of the symptoms and focusing on early prevention, has been critical to my role in educating parents and assisting their blossoming child’s development into a healthy and resilient adult.
Professionally, I maintain membership in several key industry organizations, including the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), the American Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, American Laser Study Club, Breathe Institute Ambassadors, ALF Interface Academy, Foundation for Airway Health, and the Sleep and Airway Study Club.

I hold an undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York. I received a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and completed my Pediatric Residency at Interfaith Department of Dental Medicine in Brooklyn, New York, where I served in a leadership role as Chief Resident. Board certified, I am a proud Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

When not helping my young patients build happy smiles, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, growing in my faith, playing sports, lowering my golf strokes, traveling — and cheering on the Washington Redskins!

Trusted Experience & Education
I find my career as rewarding today as I did when I began practicing over 18 years ago. As a board-certified pediatric dentist, I received extra training focused specifically on the treatment of young and developing smiles. I studied child psychology and even how to treat children with special needs. All the study and effort is worth it every time I see a child’s smile and know I’ve done something to ensure it stays healthy and beautiful.
Fulfilling a Lifelong Dream
I’ve known since I was about 8 years old that I wanted to be a kids’ dentist. When my mother brought my younger brother and me to a dentist at 6 a.m., she had too many patients for us to be seen. The next day, we arrived at 4 a.m. and I knew then and there that I wanted to provide this kind of care without making patients wait for it. All these years later, I’m still as passionate about providing excellent care that makes every child feel precious. My goal is for Ashburn Children’s Dentistry to be a place for people to come and feel wonderful – a place where we create great childhood memories.
Providing the Latest Treatments
There are so many advanced techniques and equipment that makes dentistry much more comfortable and effective than when I was a kid. Whenever we’re able to make treatments faster or more comfortable, it makes our young patients less afraid. They’re more likely to do well with treatment and to carry good dental habits forward into adulthood. That makes me happy, both as a dentist and as a mom.

Holly Springs, North Carolina, US

Dr. Rob Ehlers was born and raised in a small farming community in Idaho, and by the age of 12 he was already working in the potato fields. From an early age, sciences and health have always interested him. He was drawn to dentistry because of how it incorporates science and a hands-on aspect with patients as well.

Dr. Rob attended Brigham Young University for his undergraduate and completed dental school at the University of Pennsylvania. He found his passion in his first job working with a large group of pediatric dentists. From the first week, Dr. Rob knew that he wanted to focus on kid’s dentistry because he loves interacting with kids and making them feel comfortable at the dentist.

The biggest reward is when a child goes from being very nervous at first to giving high fives and smiles at the end of a visit. He focuses his continuing education on pediatric dentistry to ensure the highest standards of dentistry for every kid.

Dr. Rob moved to North Carolina to be near his wife’s family, and to be in a great state to raise a family. They have four small children who keep them very busy, and they love it. He aims to treat every young patient the same way he wants his children treated at the dentist. As a family, they stay busy through family trips to the park, pool, or beach.

Being a pediatric dentist is a joy for me. I am excited every day to come to work and care for my young patients. I am privileged to be a trusted dental care provider to so many young people. My team is highly skilled and willing to accept the challenge of giving your child the best start possible in their oral health experience.

Dr. Iseman received his Bachelor of General Studies at Wichita State University, and his doctorate of dental surgery at Univ. of Nebraska Medical Center in Lincoln and his residency and pediatric certificate at Univ. of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha.

As a specialist, I take extra continuing education in the area of pediatric dentistry in order to stay current on the best practices for my patients. I voluntarily obtained Diplomate status in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and continue to maintain this status through annual competency examinations. There are only a handful of dentists in the state of Kansas that have completed this accomplishment.

Dr. Malcolm Levinkind
London, GB

After qualifying from University College Hospital in 1978, I spent a short period working in both general practice and in the hospital sector in the UK. I moved to South Africa where I worked for two years in private practice. I returned to the UK to start my MSc in Paediatric Dentistry under Professor Winter at the Eastman Dental Hospital. I then spent over 12 years working as a full-time Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer at the Royal London Hospital. As part of my duties I was in charge of the Children’s Dental Trauma Unit and the clinical aspects of the MSc in Paediatric Dentistry.

In 1988 I was awarded the Colgate Prize for my research on “Electronic detection of dental caries”. Whilst retaining my connection with The Royal London Hospital for a further two years on an honorary basis, I worked for Procter & Gamble as a Senior Dental Advisor. I carried out research and contributed significantly to the company in several areas of oral health improvement. After leaving Procter & Gamble, I started my own Private Specialist Paediatric Practice as well as working part-time as a Senior Dental Officer, Paediatric Special Needs, in the Community Dental Service. I have now been in full-time, Private, Specialist Paediatric Practice since 1997. During this period I have also held the post of Honorary Senior Research Fellow at The Eastman Dental Institute.

In addition, I have also undertaken training in Osteopathic and Chiropractic techniques and work with complementary and conventionally trained clinicians to manage patients who require multi-disciplinary treatment.

I am a founder member of The Harley Street Paediatric Group and have two London-based practices: one in East Finchley (N2 9EL) and the other in Weymouth Street (W1G 7DB). I provide the full range of specialist paediatric dental care from routine primary care to comprehensive restorative and surgical treatment. In the East Finchley practice I have integrated lasers fully into my practice and can treat hard and soft tissues with lasers as an alternative to scalpel, scissors and drill. If necessary, in addition to conventional local anaesthesia I provide Photo-Bio-Modulation (PBM) or Cold Laser treatment for speeding up healing and helping with pain control. Should it be necessary, I can also provide treatment under oral and inhalational (happy gas) sedation or under general anaesthesia. To provide treatment under general anaesthesia I have privileges at; The Harley Street Clinic, The Portland Hospital and The Cromwell Hospital.

Over the span of my career I participated in many charities and have held positions on various committees including The British Society for Paediatric Dentistry. For Alpha Omega, I was honorary consultant at Ravenswood Village, a residential home for about 200 individuals with a range of special needs. The oral health scheme that I ran at Ravenswood for over 13 years was awarded several prizes and gained international acclaim.

Currently, I am Chairman of the Board of the International Affiliation of tongue-tie Professionals I have held this position since 2015.

When Dr. Robinson graduated from dental school, he couldn’t wait to get back to the community in which he grew up. He was looking forward to helping people achieve their perfect smile. Dr. Robinson started his career as a general dentist and owner of Pike Creek Dental. Little did he know that a few years later, his background in dentistry would give him the opportunity to look beyond the teeth to something that could change his patient’s overall health…the AIRWAY!

Dr. Robinson is Delaware’s first board certified Doctor in Craniofacial Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Robinson has created a new practice that will address the needs of the community. This new practice called The Pain and Sleep Therapy Center of Delaware Valley focuses on finding the origin of the problem as opposed to treating with medications and “band-aid” fixes that have become so routine in today’s medical society. The core value of our office is to restore the quality of life to all patients by providing the tools and therapies to decrease pain, increase energy and improve sleep.

Dr. Robinson works with patients of all ages. He states, “It is extremely rewarding to help an adult enhance their quality of life by finding the source of their issues, but what’s even more powerful is treating children and having the opportunity to CURE their problems.” He goes on to say “Children are the most fun because with just a little intervention and therapy we can help the child grow and develop properly, saving them a lifetime of issues that otherwise would not have been identified. We focus on identifying these issues at a young age so we don’t ever have to treat them as an adult.”

Dr. Robinson dedicates his time to treating craniofacial pain including TMD and headaches, sleep breathing disorders including snoring and sleep apnea as well as dentofacial orthodontics which focuses on proper development of the face and airway!

Alisa Sacker, MD, IBCLC

Team Tongue Tie
San Diego, CA, US

I was with Kaiser Permanente as a partnered general pediatrician in the outpatient clinic and in the hospital NICU for over 20 years. While there, I started the first laser frenectomy program in San Diego for newborns. I first became interested in ties when my teenage daughter had her braces removed at the end of her orthodontic treatment. Her Orthodontist used a laser to remove her upper lip tie as I watched. A light bulb went off in my head and I finally understood why the two of us had such issues breastfeeding. I then checked her tongue and, of course, found a significant posterior tie. That started my journey. I learned how to identify ties and do a scissors frenotomy.

Word spread to other pediatricians and lactation consultants that I was helping many more Moms and babies overcome breastfeeding challenges. I became a very strong advocate and started a quest to make even more of a difference. It ended up taking the next two challenging years to get a soft tissue laser approved by such a big organization as Kaiser Permanente. I developed policies and procedures, helped to purchase equipment, and completed training sessions. They call me “the pioneer” in the organization. I had patients travel from Los Angeles and Riverside County to see me for laser frenectomies. After being unable to grow and expand the program, I resigned from Kaiser Permanente after 22 years of service. To this day there is still minimal education in medical school or residency about tongue ties and how they affect breastfeeding.

With a private practice, I look forward to having a family oriented, multi-disciplinary approach as we diagnose and treat ties in babies, children, and adults. I look forward to giving many more lectures to educate, grow interest, and change lives. I am an active board member of the International Association of Tongue Tie Professionals, IATP, where I use my passion to further educate other health professionals. In private practice I will be able to to focus on expanding education about ties and help more Mothers breastfeed their babies with success. I do it all for Mom’s and kids to make a difference in their lives now, and in the future.

Pediatric Dentist
Pediatric Dentistry & Family Orhtodontics
Fayetteville, NY, US

As a pediatric dentist it is always a great feeling to be able to care for a young apprehensive patient and make the experience fun and exciting to help build self-esteem and alleviate fears. It’s a privilege to be able to work with children every day and see the world through their eyes. They help to keep me humble and young at heart!

I always knew I wanted to work in healthcare and dentistry gave me the ability to easily balance my work life with my personal life. I have been practicing in the dental field since 2010 and have been able to work with children as a specialty since 2014. Pediatric Dentistry is truly a specialty. It takes lots of practice and experience to be able to convey what we plan to do in a non-threatening way. Our wonderful doctors and entire team treat every patient as if they were their own child and have specialized expertise and skill to be able to adapt and care for any child that comes to our office.
I attended SUNY – Buffalo and graduated with my Bachelors of Science in Biomedical Sciences. I continued my education at the SUNY – Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where I graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery and moved on to complete my Pediatric Dental Residency at Temple University Hospital. I recently gained my Board Certification in Pediatric Dentistry in 2017.

I am an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and the New York State Dental Association. I am privileged to serve as a clinical instructor at both SUNY Upstate General Practice Dental Residency Program as well as St. Joseph’s Hospital Health Center Dental Residency Program.

Lactation Consultant
Baby Beloved Inc.

My daughter and I did not get the best start with breastfeeding. I experienced just about every challenge out there (engorgement, needing to supplement with formula, sore/cracked nipples, plugged ducts, mastitis!).

At four months, she and I finally got the hang of it and I actually enjoyed breastfeeding. I was so thankful that I got to the other side of that mountain where breastfeeding became something I looked forward to. But man, I totally understood why women stop breastfeeding! My mom did not breastfeed me (see my Instagram post about why) and it has become my mission since having my daughter to not let breastfeeding wisdom fall by the wayside.
