To earn the accreditation of Fellow, Dr. Estep had to pass an extremely thorough exam and she had to present her own cases in cosmetic dentistry and general dentistry to a panel of strict examiners.

In 2011, Dr. Susan Estep achieved the award of Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD). To earn a Fellowship award, a dentist must complete at least 500 continuing dental education hours, pass a rigorous and comprehensive exam, and maintain AGD membership for three continuous years. In 2010, Dr. Estep helped found the American Academy for Oral Systemic Health (AAOSH), a group of healthcare providers dedicated to expanding awareness of the relationship between oral health and whole body health.  AAOSH members come from all healthcare disciplines and include the nation’s healthcare leaders.  Dr. Susan Estep sits on the Executive Board for AAOSH and chaired its inaugural scientific session.

Rylan Hansen, DDS

Rylan Hansen, DDS, PA

Hansen Dentistry
Apex, NC, US

I grew up in Southern Idaho and Northern Utah. After high school, I began working for the family business as an apprentice electrician. While I enjoyed working with my hands and with my family, I had a strong desire for other career paths. After moving to my wife, Rachael’s, home state of NC, I attended the University of North Carolina for my undergraduate studies in biology. I quickly realized I wanted to pursue a career in health care and I began to see how the field of dentistry perfectly blended my desire to work with my hands and provide health care to patients. I completed my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry in Chapel Hill. Fourteen years ago I would have never dreamed that I would one day have a career that I loved, that I was passionate about, that I found fulfilling. But that is what dentistry is for me. It is my passion.

Kristin Holm, DVM, DACVD

Kristin Holm, DVM, DACVD

Veterinary Dermatologist
Veterinary Dermatology Consultation Services
Johnston, IA, US

My interest in veterinary medicine first began at the age of 13, after reading all of James Herriot’s books about his adventures as an English Countryside veterinarian. In 1995, I graduated from Iowa State College of Veterinary Medicine and started a two-year position in general practice in the Chicago suburbs. I quickly developed a passion for dermatology, as nearly one-third of all my patients presented with some form of skin disease. In 1999, I successfully passed my veterinary dermatology board exam after completing a residency at the University of Pennsylvania. My career in specialty dermatology practice began in the Chicago suburbs with Veterinary Centers of America (VCA). In 2005, a job transfer and expanding family brought my family back to Iowa, where I began a part-time position in the Dermatology Department at my alma mater, Iowa State. Eventaully, I moved into private practice in Des Moines. Veterinary Dermatology Consultation Services, Inc. was born in April 2010. I began consulting with two specialty practices in Des Moines, and in October 2015, moved into our new location in Johnston. In addition to clinical practice, I have been a dermatology consultant for Veterinary Information Network (VIN), a community of nearly 40,000 veterinarians worldwide. Volunteer work is an important part of my life, so I have served on the Examination Committee and currently serve on the Marketing and Publicity Committee for the American College of Veterinary Dermatology.

Marissa Honey-Jones, IBCLC, RLC

Marissa Honey-Jones, IBCLC, RLC

International Board Certified Lactation Consultant
Arizona Breastfeeding Medicine and Wellness
Scottsdale, AZ, US

As a first time mom nearly ten years ago, I struggled. Without nearby family and friends who had “been there”, days with my newborn son were filled with a crazy mix of overwhelming joy for my beautiful baby and persistent frustration with our breastfeeding challenges. A visit with an IBCLC steered us in the right direction for solving some of the issues, and soon after I worked up my courage to attend a La Leche League meeting, where we were welcomed with compassion and directed to a variety of excellent resources. Then – whether by sheer luck or divine providence – a friend I had only known online throughout our pregnancies invited me to join her for coffee at a local shop, and it was the beginning of my circle; we continued to meet weekly for the next year, I attended monthly LLL meetings, and I looked for more opportunities to surround myself with other breastfeeding families. My connection with this community was integral in both my breastfeeding and parenting journeys, and I built on it: I made a shift to helping families in a peer-to-peer role, and then pursued the education to become a credentialed professional.

fiona lee vmd dacvd

Fiona Lee, VMD, DACVD, MBA

Veterinary Dermatologist
Mount Laurel Animal Hospital
Washington, DC, US

I grew up in NY/NJ with a flawless accent and attended New York University for my undergraduate studies in Chemistry. During this time, I performed research with the human side of medicine, volunteered with a general practitioner veterinarian, and took an elective course in goat husbandry. Realizing that a career in veterinary medicine could combine these diverse interests, I attended veterinary school at the University of Pennsylvania. Despite the lack of goats in New York City, I returned to the city for my rotating internship at BluePearl Veterinary Partners.

While the subject of dermatology had always interested me (it may have been in the NY/NJ water as my brother is a human dermatologist), what I found most compelling about the specialty was that I could see the problem AND the owner could see the problem. Together, we could make a formidable team to help diagnose, treat, and monitor their pet’s dermatologic disease. Therefore, despite the lack of New York City in Philadelphia, I returned to the University of Pennsylvania for my dermatology residency and became board certified.

Dr. Malcolm Levinkind
London, GB

After qualifying from University College Hospital in 1978, I spent a short period working in both general practice and in the hospital sector in the UK. I moved to South Africa where I worked for two years in private practice. I returned to the UK to start my MSc in Paediatric Dentistry under Professor Winter at the Eastman Dental Hospital. I then spent over 12 years working as a full-time Lecturer and was promoted to Senior Lecturer at the Royal London Hospital. As part of my duties I was in charge of the Children’s Dental Trauma Unit and the clinical aspects of the MSc in Paediatric Dentistry.

In 1988 I was awarded the Colgate Prize for my research on “Electronic detection of dental caries”. Whilst retaining my connection with The Royal London Hospital for a further two years on an honorary basis, I worked for Procter & Gamble as a Senior Dental Advisor. I carried out research and contributed significantly to the company in several areas of oral health improvement. After leaving Procter & Gamble, I started my own Private Specialist Paediatric Practice as well as working part-time as a Senior Dental Officer, Paediatric Special Needs, in the Community Dental Service. I have now been in full-time, Private, Specialist Paediatric Practice since 1997. During this period I have also held the post of Honorary Senior Research Fellow at The Eastman Dental Institute.

In addition, I have also undertaken training in Osteopathic and Chiropractic techniques and work with complementary and conventionally trained clinicians to manage patients who require multi-disciplinary treatment.

I am a founder member of The Harley Street Paediatric Group and have two London-based practices: one in East Finchley (N2 9EL) and the other in Weymouth Street (W1G 7DB). I provide the full range of specialist paediatric dental care from routine primary care to comprehensive restorative and surgical treatment. In the East Finchley practice I have integrated lasers fully into my practice and can treat hard and soft tissues with lasers as an alternative to scalpel, scissors and drill. If necessary, in addition to conventional local anaesthesia I provide Photo-Bio-Modulation (PBM) or Cold Laser treatment for speeding up healing and helping with pain control. Should it be necessary, I can also provide treatment under oral and inhalational (happy gas) sedation or under general anaesthesia. To provide treatment under general anaesthesia I have privileges at; The Harley Street Clinic, The Portland Hospital and The Cromwell Hospital.

Over the span of my career I participated in many charities and have held positions on various committees including The British Society for Paediatric Dentistry. For Alpha Omega, I was honorary consultant at Ravenswood Village, a residential home for about 200 individuals with a range of special needs. The oral health scheme that I ran at Ravenswood for over 13 years was awarded several prizes and gained international acclaim.

Currently, I am Chairman of the Board of the International Affiliation of tongue-tie Professionals I have held this position since 2015.

Cynthia M. Lopez, MD

Cynthia M. Lopez, MD, DABLS

Cosmetic Surgeon
Fresno, CA, US

Dr. Cynthia M. Lopez graduated from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center, School of Medicine in the Philippines, in 1982. Soon after, she began a family practice residency at the U.S Naval Hospital in Subic Bay, Philippines, where she focused on obstetrics and gynecology. After three years she traveled to the United States and obtained a medical license after training at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, IL. While at Cook County she met Frank Lopez, another physician there, and whom she married. The couple moved to California and settled down in Fresno in 1993, with plans of starting a family. Within a few years they had five children, four rowdy boys and a girl. At the same time, they built a family health clinic together and began seeing people from all walks of life.

Dr. Cynthia discovered Cosmetic Medicine in 2007 when she sought a local plastic surgeon to help her look better for her 25th medical school reunion. She was 51 at that time and the undeniable signs of aging could not be hidden anymore. The recommendation for a face lift did not appeal to her. Many of her classmates who had face lifts looked a little odd and unnatural. The mid-face are is stretched out but the wrinkles around the eyes and mouth remained. After researching and attending numerous seminars on Cosmetic Medicine, she realized that one does not have to go through plastic surgery to look better.
