About Dr. Lee

Dr. Janelle Lee is a board-certified pediatric dentist, airway advocate, and provider of early palatal expansion and tethered oral tissue releases: tongue, lip, and buccal ties. She is the founder and owner of Elevate Tongue Tie & Airway Center in Chandler, Arizona, and the surrounding areas. With a lifelong passion for helping children and adults achieve optimal oral and whole body health, Dr. Lee is especially devoted to educating families about the critical role of airway development, nasal breathing, and proper oral muscle function. She believes that to breathe well is to live well, a principle that guides every aspect of her care.

Dr. Lee’s commitment to this work is deeply personal. After struggling for years with undiagnosed sleep-disordered breathing, she discovered her own restrictive tongue and lip ties after completing dental school, pediatric residency, and practicing dentistry for over a decade. Her lived experience allows her to connect with and advocate for patients whose symptoms may be overlooked or misunderstood. She is passionate about early identification and intervention for issues related to oral restrictions, jaw development, and sleep quality.

Over Dr. Lee’s 18-year career in clinical pediatric dentistry, she developed a special interest in screening, guiding, and treating children with signs of sleep disordered breathing (SDB), a term used to describe a range of breathing difficulties that occur during sleep. Examples of SDB include mouth breathing – especially at night, snoring, and partial or full cessation of breath. These issues can disrupt normal sleep patterns, oxygen levels, and overall health, especially in children and adults with underlying airway or anatomical issues.

Elevate Tongue Tie & Airway Center was founded during Dr. Lee’s tenure as the founder and former owner of another pediatric dental practice, as her passion for airway health deepened and her vision for a dedicated space to support families in this journey began to take shape. After an extraordinary journey growing her start-up pediatric dental practice, Dr. Lee decided to sell that practice and transition fully into airway-focused care for patients of all ages.

Dr. Lee is a lifelong learner and remains active in continuing education, regularly attending courses in airway health, jaw development, laser therapy, and tethered oral tissues. She strongly believes in a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach and works closely with myofunctional therapists, IBCLCs, bodyworkers, and other functional specialists to ensure the best outcomes for her patients.

Outside of the office, Dr. Lee enjoys spending time with her husband and their two dogs, hiking, reading, and practicing yoga and Pilates. A recovering long-distance runner, she completed 10 marathons and finished the 2013 Boston Marathon. Her proudest hiking accomplishment is double-crossing the Grand Canyon in one day, known as a “Rim-to-Rim-to-Rim” among hiking enthusiasts. These days, she and her husband prefer shorter, scenic hiking jaunts.
