WEBINAR – Non-Ablative Soft Palate Therapy and Beyond: Integrating the LightScalpel into Everyday Dental Sleep Practice

This was held March 24 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm PDT online via a Zoom Webinar

Join Kristen Geist, DDS, D. ABDSM, and the American Laser Study Club for the free 1-hour webinar “Non-Ablative Soft Palate Therapy and Beyond: Integrating the LightScalpel into Everyday Dental Sleep Practice” on Tuesday, March 24th, at 5:30 pm PT (8:30 pm ET).

Abstract:

The integration of a LightScalpel laser into the general dental practice is expanding far beyond traditional applications. While tongue-tie release remains a cornerstone indication, this laser offers versatile clinical benefits that can transform everyday dentistry. This presentation will highlight underutilized yet highly effective applications of the LightScalpel for managing common conditions, including recurrent aphthous ulcers, periodontal disease, and peri-implantitis. Special attention will be given to innovative non-ablative soft palate treatments for patients with snoring and sleep-disordered breathing, showcasing how this adjunctive therapy can enhance outcomes for those struggling with sleep apnea when used in conjunction with oral appliance therapy, CPAP, or multidisciplinary care. Participants will gain practical insights into incorporating these procedures seamlessly into a general practice setting, improving patient comfort, expanding treatment options, and elevating the standard of care. By broadening the clinical scope of laser use, dentists can address both functional and quality-of-life concerns that deeply impact their patients’ health and well-being.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Identify clinical scenarios beyond tongue-tie release where the LightScalpel laser can provide effective treatment (ex. aphthous ulcers, gingivectomy, etc.);
  • Understand the role of non-ablative soft palate therapy in reducing snoring and supporting sleep apnea management;
  • Integrate laser procedures into general practice to enhance patient outcomes and expand the scope of care.

This webinar is open to dentists and all healthcare professionals. CE credits are not currently available; if this changes, we will update registrants.
