Ankyloglossia, Tethered Oral Tissues (TOTS), and Oral Restrictions are best identified, diagnosed and treated by knowledgeable providers. This course will explore material that shows the importance of understanding facial development necessary for proper growth & development, airway, feeding, and speech and the implications of TOTS as one of the contributing factors.

Orofacial Myology Disorders (OMDs) will be defined and cases presented for all ages to illustrate normal and abnormal oral facial structures and the development of compensatory habits that affect speech, chewing, swallowing and breathing.

Ankyloglossia & Oral Restrictions will be presented addressing basic and advanced therapy in the areas of observation, diagnosis, laser surgery, postoperative active wound care, Orofacial myofunctional therapy and wound healing.

The goal of the program is to enhance the understanding of the issues related to Oral Restrictions and their implications on development, feeding & airway. Lasers used in dentistry are presented detailing the physics of ablation, cutting, coagulation & laser safety. This course provides a hands-on participation segment in addition to didactic basic laser science.
