About Dr. Heller

Dr. Jason Heller earned his undergraduate degree in biology from the State University of New York College at Geneseo in 1991 and his DVM from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 1994. He has been practicing veterinary medicine ever since in various clinics and animal hospitals on Long Island and New York City.

After beginning work and training in general practice, Dr. Heller complimented his love for preventative medicine by picking up extra shifts at local emergency and specialty hospitals. As a member of VECCS (Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society), LIVMA (Long Island Veterinary Medical Association), NYSVMS (New York State Veterinary Medical Society), and AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association), Dr. Heller strives to achieve the ideals of providing excellent medicine by education and conversation with the best people in the veterinary field.

Volunteer work has profoundly impacted Dr. Heller and sparked his passion for providing humane assistance to animals in need, especially in emergencies. From helping rescue dogs at ground zero after the tragedy of 9/11 to assisting at the Mitchell Field Animal Shelter after superstorm Sandy devastated so many Long Island communities, Dr. Heller is grateful to have the opportunity to make a difference. Currently, Dr. Heller spends much of his free time trying to help local animal shelters and pet stores by making the safest and healthiest environment for the animals and people involved. Throughout his career, Dr. Heller has done spay and neuters for the Town of Huntington, Town of Islip, and North Hempstead for free to help the community. He has sponsored many students over the years in the Eastern Suffolk BOCES program. As a mentor for the Suffolk County Community College Veterinary Science Technology program, Dr. Heller assists in training new technicians by providing hands-on experience with live animals under typical working conditions. He has also been an active participant in many local school career days.

Since 2011, Dr. Jason Heller has owned the East Northport Animal Hospital (formerly the Northport Animal Clinic) in East Northport, NY.
