The ADA’s Guide to Dental Lasers and Related Light-based Technologies

The American Dental Association’s technical report titled “Guide to Dental Lasers and Related Light-based Technologies: Technology, Science and Safety Considerations” is a great resource for both experienced laser users as well as dentists new to lasers. This report provides a scientific foundation and fundamental information on how different types of lasers interact with hard and soft tissue and the benefits and drawbacks of each laser wavelength used in dentistry as well as safety guidelines all laser surgeons should know and follow.

American Laser Study Club (ALSC) founder, Peter Vitruk, PhD, MInstP, CPhys, was a member of the working group responsible for this technical report. Dr. Vitruk was a key contributor to this report with many of his papers and scientific research cited throughout.
